Once the sacred circuit is complete, Kashi still has days to give — heritage, learning, craft and the river's further reaches.
Within the City
- Banaras Hindu University (BHU): one of Asia's great residential universities, founded by Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya in 1916 — tree-lined campus, the Bharat Kala Bhavan museum, and the New Vishwanath Temple (Birla Temple), whose towering shikhara is among India's tallest.
- Ramnagar Fort: the 18th-century riverside fort-palace of the Kashi Naresh across the Ganga — museum of royal cars, arms and curios, and grand sunset views back to the city.
- Bharat Kala Bhavan: an exceptional art museum (miniatures, sculpture, textiles) on the BHU campus.
- The weaver colonies: with a reputable guide or showroom, see Banarasi silk still woven on pit looms.
- Man Mandir Observatory: Sawai Jai Singh II's 18th-century masonry instruments above the riverfront.
Day Trips

- Prayagraj (~120 km): the Triveni Sangam of Ganga-Yamuna-Saraswati, one of Hinduism's great tirthas.
- Ayodhya (~200 km): Rama's city, with its grand new temple — an increasingly popular pairing with Kashi.
- Vindhyachal (~65 km): the Shaktipeeth of Vindhyavasini Devi on the Ganga.
- Chunar Fort (~40 km): the ancient fort above the Ganga's bend, woven into Kashi's sandstone history.

Distances are approximate; road times in this region vary widely — ask your hotel for the day's realistic estimate, and prefer early starts for day trips. Pilgrims combining Kashi with Prayagraj and Ayodhya should check train connections, which are frequent and convenient.
