The Newest Ghat
Namo Ghat is Varanasi's contemporary addition to the ancient riverfront — a modern, amphitheatre-style ghat near the northern end, inaugurated as part of the city's riverfront development and known for its three large folded-hands (namaste) sculptures greeting the river. Where the old ghats grew organically over centuries, Namo Ghat is designed: broad steps, open sightlines, and facilities meant for events, cruises and crowds.

No medieval lanes behind it, no cremation ground beside it, no centuries of bathers' routines — Namo Ghat is riverfront as public space rather than as scripture. That is precisely its use: a relaxed, accessible river experience, especially good for families, evening walks and events.
Getting There
Namo Ghat lies north of Raj Ghat, reachable by road — unlike most ghats, vehicles can approach comfortably. Combine with a drive along the northern riverfront and the Malviya Bridge viewpoint.
