  • 4:00 PMManikarnika and the northern ghats — quietly, respectfully (no photography at cremation ghats); Dham museum if time allows.
  • 6:00 PMGanga Aarti at Dashashwamedh, from steps or boat.
  • 8:00 PMDinner; early night.
Day 2 — Assi & SarnathMorning culture, afternoon history
  • 6:00 AMAssi Ghat morning — Subah-e-Banaras culture, chai by the river.
  • 8:30 AMBreakfast at Assi's cafes; Tulsi Manas Mandir and Durga Kund nearby.
  • 11:00 AMDrive to Sarnath (~10 km): Dhamek Stupa, ruins, museum, and the temples of many Buddhist nations.
  • 3:30 PMReturn; BHU campus and the New Vishwanath Temple.
  • 6:00 PMSunset boat from Assi, or shopping for Banarasi silk at a reputed showroom.
  • 8:00 PMFarewell Banarasi dinner.
