A good Kashi yatra is built in layers: the sacred core (darshan, snan, aarti), the city (ghats, lanes, food), and the wider kshetra (Sarnath, nearby tirthas). Here is the framework we use for every itinerary on this site.
Layer 1 — The Sacred Core
Fix these first: Vishwanath darshan (book any special entry only via the official portal), Ganga snan at a ghat of your choice, and the evening Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh. Everything else fits around these anchors.
Layer 2 — The Circuit Temples
Annapurna beside Vishwanath; Kaal Bhairav the Kotwal; Sankat Mochan, Durga Kund and Tulsi Manas in the southern quarter. One half-day covers them.
Layer 3 — The Riverfront
A dawn boat from Assi to Manikarnika and back; a slow walk of the central ghats; an evening simply sitting on the steps. Do not compress this layer — the riverfront is the destination.
Layer 4 — Beyond
Sarnath deserves half a day. Ramnagar Fort, BHU and the weaver colonies fill another. Prayagraj or Ayodhya extend the yatra into the region.
Timing & Budget Notes
October–March for weather; Shivratri, Sawan and Dev Deepawali for intensity (and crowds). Budget stays cluster near Assi and Godowlia; mid-range near the cantonment; heritage hotels along the river. Our master guide and itineraries turn this framework into day plans.
